MY COMMENT: I am just curious- you do 18 minutes of cardio and spend up to 2 hours at the gym- the rest of your time is devoted to weights? Sounds to me like way too much time is being wasted.

I would flip that around and spend about 18 minutes on a focused weight program and the remainder doing various cardio routines. Diet sounds ok. My goal would be to get in and out of the gym in 60 minutes on most days.

My goal is to lose body FAT not really weight. I wouldn’t mind losing a few pounds but really I want to lose body fat. So WHICH ZONE should I do my cardio in? Thank you!! -Yahoo answers

MY COMMENT: The fat burning zone is a myth- go slow you burn more fat but fewer total calories. Ideally you want to do a mixture of low, moderate, and high intensity exercise. You burn more fat and calories doing very high intensity workouts (i.e. spinning), however it’s difficult to maintain that level day after day, so you do moderate activity most of the time. Go long (60 minutes or longer) one day a week to increase fat burning activity within your muscles, and hard once or twice. And don’t forget the diet side of the equation! Oh yea, strength training also helps maintain muscle during fat loss!

You’ll lose weight on just about any diet that is lower in calories, however the key is what diet takes weight off PERMANENTLY?

1. Physical activity- You can lose weight without exercise, but are much more likely to keep it off if you exercise at least 30 minutes a day.

2. Weigh yourself often- once a week is best. It will keep you in touch with gradual weight regain so you can catch it early and get back on track.

3. Eat a healthy breakfast.

4. Follow the rest of the Lose It For Ever Scorecard.
