MY COMMENT: I can hardly keep up with the latest weight loss programs, books, and pills. Here is yet another that promotes regular fasting. Sounds too painful to me. I am curious when you fit in the regular exercise.

NutriSystem- How Desperate Are You?

January 24th, 2009

I recently checked out the NutriSystem website for infomation on their ad claiming the program cost is $3 per meal. You can get 28 days of food for $329.95 if you sign up for autodelivery for at least 2 months. You also get a free week of food.

Are you prepared to spend $660 over 2 months? What if you don’t like the food? What is going to keep you from cheating? Why can’t you just go to the store and buy healthier choices? What is going to happen after you discontinue? You won’t be eating NutriSystem forever.

Don’t forget to read the NutriSystem Disclaimer: You may not use a NutriSystem program if you are (a) pregnant, (b) nursing, (c) under 18 years of age, (d) anorexic or bulimic, or (e) allergic to peanuts. Please consult your physician before beginning a NutriSystem program, or any other weight loss program. Please be sure to eat all the food that is recommended on the NutriSystem program. Failure to follow the program protocol and eat all of the food recommended may involve the risk of developing serious health complications.

Chitogenics

December 22nd, 2008

Online research shows that Chitosan, one of the main ingredients for ChitoGenics, is not all that effective as a weight loss product. These scientific studies show that the ingredient has been shown to only reduce calorie intake by about ten calories per day from a person’s diet. There are both favorable and unfavorable reviews from various online sources, so the product may work for some and not for others. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not offer a product guarantee if it does not prove effective, since refunds are only given on unopened and unused bottles. It would be better to allow those who wish to purchase and try the product the opportunity to use it for thirty days and receive a full refund, even for the empty bottle, in the event that the product does not work.

MY COMMENT:  Honestly I need to research this further, but the conclusion reached by dietspotlight is a good one.   Show me the studies.
