Calculate Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
You first have to convert your weight in
pounds into weight in kilograms. You do this
by dividing your weight in pounds by 2.2.
For a person who is 135 pounds this would
be 135/2.2=61.4 kilograms
Then take your height in inches and convert
it to centimeters. A 5’5’’ person would
be 65 inches. Multiply the inches by 2.54.
So the 5’5” person would be 65 x 2.54=165
centimeters (rounded).
Estimated Daily Resting Energy Expenditure formula for males:
BMR=66+ (13.7 x kg) + (5.0 x cm) – (6.8 x age)
Estimated Daily Resting Energy Expenditure formula for females:
BMR= 655 + (9.6 x kg) + (1.85 x cm) – (4.7 x age)
EXAMPLE: female, 30 yrs old, 5′5″, 135 lbs
655 + (9.6 x 61.4) + (1.85 x 165) – 4.7 x 30)
655 + 305 – 141
BMR estimate = 1101 calories
Remmber, this is energy expenditure at rest, not your caloric daily need. You have to add in an estimate for how many calories you burn daily in order to get that number.

I admit, I have not been on this website in a long time… however it was another happy to see It is such crucial subject and to avoided by so many, even adept. I thank you to help making people more enlightened of possible problems.
