Are All Calories Created Equal?

Research indicates that not all calories are created equal. It take more energy to metabolize calories from protein vs carbohydrate. Also, the addition of fiber appears to block the absorption of some calories. Actually if you snacked on nuts or high fiber crackers that contain more fat you may actually lose slightly more weight than using the pretzels. Pretty small difference though. The extra fat and protein in peanut butter and crackers will also do a better job of satisfying your hunger compared to pretzels.
