Have you heard of Sensa? One of the Win Over Weight (W.O.W.) members brought my attention to it. (Sensa)
Sensa is a weight loss product that you sprinkle on food that supposedly results
in people eating less. While the validity of the clinical study cited
in the report has been questioned, check out the reviews at
http://www.dietsinreview.com/diets/sensa/. While many are calling Sensa
a scam, there are several positive reviews here and also on the amazon
link.
Dr. Alan Hirsch, who developed Sensa, found that patients who lost taste
and smell tended to gain weight, so he theorized that enhancing taste
and smell of food would have the opposite effect (doesn’t seem logical
to me, – smoking kills the senses along with appetite, however…).
Hirsch claims you’ll feel fuller faster.
After some more digging, I discovered the same Dr. Hirsch that came up
with Sensa also had a similar product called Sprinkle Thin, that
apparently went under
(http://www.thinreport.com/diet-pill-reviews/sprinkle-thin.html) in
2004.
ABCs 20/20 did a story on Hersch and Sensa
(http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/story?id=5495808&page=1) but I couldn’t
find a date when it was published.
Research from the University of Rhode Island showed that people who chewed gum consumed 68 fewer calories at lunch and did not compensate by eating more later in the day -webmd.com.
MY COMMENT: Nice article. Remember to keep your mouth closed while chewing to avoid making that annoying smacking noise!
“ -Dieters across America are turning to a Japanese lunchbox, called a bento as an innovative way to help with counting calories and weight loss -everydayhealth.com,

“The facts are simple: To look fit and firm at any age, you have to strength-train,” -Wayne Wescott -prevention.com
According to the article, women who don’t strength train lose about 1/2 pound of muscle a year, beginning as early as in their 20s. Imagine what that does to metabolism and weight gain by the time your 40?
This is a good reminder for all of us. The good news is you can easily work those muscles at home in just a few minutes a day!
This is a great workout if for some reason you are unable to not interested in conventional aerobic exercise. Trust me, you’ll want to begin with much less weight than this guy- 5 lbs ought to do it! Repeat through the cycle as many times as you can. Watch the clip, and use perfect form!

“I was a late-night eater,” confessed Villanueva. “I’d go to fast-food places and get a burger and fries. Now when I eat a snack, I make sure it’s healthy.
“I went to a sports nutritionist back home. I started eating on a schedule. I tried to have less carbs as the day goes on. It was hard the first couple of weeks, but now it’s constant every day.” -jsonline
MY COMMENT: I am still in shock that professional athletes have 20 pounds to spare! What are they thinking? Better yet, for what they pay these guys, what is the team thinking?
Basically this study found that subjects who lifted weights while on a
weight loss program were able to preserve more muscle and maintain
resting metabolic rate compared to aerobic exercisers (just cardio).
Resistance training conserves fat-free mass and resting energy expenditure following weight loss.
